Miracle Monday…Meet Alexis!
This Miracle Monday is a special one. This week we are featuring Alexis, who is graduating from high school this week!
At just 4 years old, Alexis was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the most common type of cancer in children, and treatments result in a good chance for a cure. After receiving chemotherapy treatments for six weeks, she was diagnosed with PCP pneumonia. Alexis has spent approximately 110 days at Mercy Health – Children’s Hospital over the course of her two and a half years of chemotherapy treatments. The staff at Mercy Health – Children’s Hospital was a huge part of her life and she has a strong connection with all of the doctors and nurses still today. Alexis also likes to attend BGSU Dance Marathon, as well as the ReMax Cinco De Mayo Party each year.
After graduation Alexis is hoping to continue her career at The Toledo Zoo, where she is currently on the Zoo Education Team. She will also be continuing her education with a focus on Medical Imaging.
